about

I am a computer fanatic at heart, but a passionate adventurer in many other aspects of life. I enjoy programming, finance, business, writing, and many other things. One thing is a fundamental aspect of my life; I never want to stop learning.

I was introduced to the PC during the early 1990s with Windows 3.1. My mom bought an IBM PS/2 386 that boasted 4MB of RAM. I remember wanting to upgrade the system memory up  from 4MB to 8MB costing my mom roughly $800 – all to play a new game I couldn’t play before. She has never let me forget that moment.

Shortly after we got that computer I began to play around with Visual Basic 3.0. Nothing exciting really came from it other than a few long lost programs that I made to torment America Online chat rooms. I fondly remember making awesome intros to my ‘proggies’ with the Metallica track ‘Sandman.’

Marine Corps DaysWhen I hit 17, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to become a Supply Warehouseman. Well, that wasn’t what I originally went in as, but the story is far too long for me to write here.

Here is the brief version. While I was in, I spent time in several job positions; Food Specialist, Warehouseman, Military Police, and Security in Iraq. But, above all, my primary job in the Marines was working in the receiving department of a supply warehouse within the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion at Camp Pendleton California. I gained invaluable knowledge from working under great individuals to eventually being in charge of receiving. My introduction to managing the area was a culture shock. We had just came back from deployment and we were in the process of getting the battalion back to its combat readiness. During that time I was tasked with the oversight of junior Marines and the distribution of roughly $20 million dollars worth of assets. Our input/output went up about 8 fold for about 6 months.

After nearly spending 4 years on active duty, I applied for a School Cut which releases outstanding Marines that have outside ambitions for pursuing a college degree. After filing a massive amount of paperwork and writing several letters, it was a success. I was released 90 days early and on my way to Kansas State University.

At Kansas State, I received a Bachelors of Science in Information Systems and was the first in my family to graduate college (2008).  While there I spent a lot of time outside of class tinkering with technology – beginning with C++ to later building tools in C# and experimenting with Python. I began finding a real interest in game development and I paid my way to attend the Game Developers Conference 2008 in San Francisco.

I currently work at ImageMovers Digital and spend my time outside of work doing independent development.

Only time will tell where life is taking me, but I do expect, and anticipate, a challenging and promising ride.
